The Global Sourcing Specialist will source goods and services; obtain, summarize and present quotes; analyze landed cost for quote; make supplier recommendations, seek cost reduction opportunities and build effective supplier relationships by facilitating interaction with offshore suppliers and Plews personnel.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Source product and services; obtain, summarize and present quotes as requested; on time and on quality.
  • Recognize cost reduction opportunities and act upon them.
  • Recognize potential in a supplier 'cold call' and follow up accordingly.
  • Take a lead role in supplier evaluation, selection, and qualification.
  • Manage supplier base, building effective win-win relationships.
  • Follow assigned priorities and meet or exceed timelines.
  • Analysis of business related data, creation and presentation of recommendations.
  • Obtain data and provide high level summary analysis related to product family and overall spend metrics.
  • Measurement, reporting and process improvement in all areas of responsibility.
  • Maintain working knowledge of business trends including commodity specific issues, cost drivers and supply chain best practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Required Education/Experience:
  • 3 to 5 years sourcing experience in an industrial, automotive or consumer goods setting (not replenishment buying).
  • Negotiation and contract experience preferred.
  • Multi-cultural experience preferred (Mexico and Asia).
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams.
  • Project management experience.
  • Experience with offshore sourcing, quoting and supplier evaluation preferred.
  • Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Must be able to work and communicate effectively with suppliers from all countries.
  • Strong personality capable of negotiation, debate and persuasion using fact based strategies to bring others into alignment for company point of view and best interest.
  • Must be self-motivated, proactive, and creative with critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to read drawings and blueprints related to manufactured and consumer retail ready products.
  • Advanced MS Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, Access, Project & PowerPoint)
  • ERP system experience (preferably ASI or other similar systems, plus AS400 or similar system query writing experience)

  • Manufacturing and Warehouse Distribution personnel
  • Sourcing, Purchasing and Customer Service teams
  • Various other Plews employees and leadership team members
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Sitting for long periods of time (6+hours per day)
  • Viewing computer screen for majority of the work day
  • Dexterity to successfully operate office machines (PC, phone, fax, copier, scanner)
  • Ability to maneuver around the office when necessary
