Our large manufacturing client located in Pontiac, Illinois, is looking for a Quality Test Engineer, to add to their team.

Position's Contributions to Work Group

As a Test Stand Engineer at our client's company, you will be responsible for ensuring fuel system and aftertreatment test equipment reliably assesses product quality and supporting operations in achieving operational excellence through driving improvements in PQVC.

Typical Day

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop and execute processes for complying with engineering testing specifications
  • Ensure production testing process stops defects detectable at test from being passed to customers
  • Develop and execute test bench control processes ensuring test equipment is in statistical control, on target, and exhibiting acceptable variation
  • Provide manufacturing engineering support to maintenance and operations in identifying and resolving test equipment and test process issues
  • Plan and execute NIST traceable calibrations
  • Utilize statistical tools such as Minitab to monitor test machine performance and customer engine performance
  • Perform Measurement System Analysis (MSA) techniques such as ANOVA to assess measurement system variation
  • Serve as testing subject matter expert (SME) on Lean, First Test Pass, and other teams driving factory PQVC improvements
  • Recommend and implement equipment upgrade and continuous improvement projects for existing test equipment
  • Partner with Advanced Planning on test equipment new capital introduction (NCI) projects
  • Work with engineering and the operations team on resolving complex problems affecting product and test performance
  • Support implementation quality certifications such as ISO9000

Education Requirements:

Bachelors degree in Engineering/Manufacturing with 2-4 years of experience or Associates Degree with 5+ years of experience. Also willing to consider relevant work experience with training similar to Associate's degree. Experience will be evaluated based on work experience, continuing education, professional certifications, etc.

Technical Skills

  • Thorough knowledge of quality concepts including process control, analysis, quality systems, ISO9000 etc.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic, electrical and mechanical systems utilized in test equipment
  • Experience with print reading including electrical and hydraulic schematics
  • Ability to plan and execute NIST traceable calibrations
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Advanced computer applications skills
