Position Summary
Initiate and lead engineering design, development and problem-solving equipment, manufacturing and supporting processes.

Initiate and lead application of engineering principles and process understanding
Initiate and lead the integration/validation of assigned components/assemblies
Initiate, lead, define and develop new design concepts
Lead the modeling of components/assemblies for machine segments or modules meeting specifications
Specify, select, and integrate vendor components
Initiate and lead production of designs that are manufacturable, demonstrate an appreciation for operations and maintenance, and meet safety standards
Initiate, lead, present and participate in review of designs
Complete assigned work within established schedule
Initiate lead and coordinate completion of design documentation with minimal errors including part and assembly drawings, Bills of Materials, Specification sheets, Modification kits, and project files
Initiate and lead development of creative and practical designs that meet expectations
Understand roles of other functions and provide project support as appropriate
Initiate, lead and participate in team processes and contribute to team objectives
Communicate fully with supervisor, project lead, and others that have a need to know in a timely, effective manner
Abide by corporate polices and quality system procedures
Carry out job responsibilities in a safe manner and contribute to safety and well-being of self and others
Estimate engineering project resources, dollars and man-hours
Assume responsibility for designs valued at greater than $500,000
Train less experienced personnel on establish methods and facilitate transfer of technical knowledge

Qualifications/Skills Required
Demonstrated competency in design and use of engineering system tools

Familiar with:

Engineering codes and standards such as OSHA, ANSI, and EC standards
Current industry/trade knowledge and commercial equipment availability
Engineering economics
Materials and fabrication
Exhibits willingness and ability to increase knowledge through continuous education
Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function of the position.

Education/Experience Required
4-year Mechanical engineering degree or equivalent
Typically, greater than 10 years related experience
Demonstrated competency in design and use of engineering system tools

Work in an office/manufacturing environment.
Coverage during certain periods.

Work Environment
Climate controlled office environment, no physical discomfort due to temperature, dust, noise and the like. May have limited exposure to manufacturing areas that require the usage of PPE.

Physical Demands
Frequently required to sit. Occasional walking, standing, stooping and kneeling. Frequently lift up to 10 pounds, occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds.
