Description

Reporting to the CFO, the Payroll Specialist will have responsibility for processing payroll for all union and non-union employees on a weekly and monthly basis, as well as other tasks related to payroll and accounting.

 

Essential Functions

 

Process weekly/monthly payroll (in house) for union and non-union employees

 Collect  and calculate office employee timesheets, including entering timecard edits

Review and reconcile the payroll edit report against timesheets

Resolve payroll discrepancies

Balance payroll taxes with General Ledger

Pay/file federal , state, and city taxes weekly

File quarterly payroll tax

Process Direct Deposits with bank

Generate and distribute Annual W-2 s

Create monthly union reports

Processing of wage attachments, (child support orders, garnishments, levies)

Audit the 401K reports with the General Ledger

Balance fringe benefits

Process several specific reports needed in the department weekly and monthly

Set up company specific items in payroll software and update as needed

Assist in accounting as needed

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

Working knowledge of payroll/accounting

Previous payroll/accounting experience, including 3+ years full cycle payroll experience

Ability to use 10-key by touch

Ability to type 30 words per minute

Punctual, dependable, excellent attendance habits

Honesty, accuracy, attention to detail and good judgement

Ability to keep payroll/accounting information confidential

Professional appearance

Ability to read, write, speak and understand English well

Strong verbal and interpersonal skills

Ability to create and maintain friendly relationships with customers and co-workers

Must possess excellent problem-solving, analytical skills

Possess motivation, initiative and be a self-starter

Detailed orientated, well organized and accurate

Able to multi task and prioritize work

Ability to read, write, speak and understand English well

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
