Job Summary:

A Billing Coordinator with Medicaid billing experience is necessary! As a member of the clinical team, the Billing Coordinator's main focus is to collaborate with vendors such as Medicaid and other health insurance agencies by submitting medical claims for payment. This individual will review remittance statements for rejected/denied claims and reprocess accordingly.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Checks to ensure that agency records for clients include all information required for Medicaid and other health insurance reimbursement
  • Verifies correct coding to ensure prompt payment
  • Inputs correct billing information and transmits electronically to the carrier
  • Consults with team members about any disputed claims and follows up on all bills not processed within usual claim period
  • Reviews remittance advice forms to determine any adjustments made to bills as submitted
  • Confirm and adjusts units to correct errors
  • Prepares weekly and monthly reports of billing for leadership's review
  • Attends training to keep abreast of changes in Medicaid and other health insurance billing procedures and attends annual in-services
  • Other projects and duties as assigned

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent;
    • Associates degree preferred
  • Two (2) or more years of Medicaid billing experience required
  • A strong understanding of CPT, ICD-9, diagnosis and modifiers
  • Thorough understanding on how to read EOB's (Explanation of Benefits)
  • Experience handling outstanding claims that need to get paid
  • Must possess a Valid Driver's License
  • Must have current automobile insurance
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States

Working Conditions

This position may require prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Assigned hours are at the discretion of the clinical director.
