The Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Manager is responsible for the management of diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives and the evolving framework. This focus of this role includes overseeing the Diversity Council and the ongoing growth and implementation of progressive programs and trainings. This individual must demonstrate the ability to align cross-functional partners through data, drive results from self and others, and organize multiple works teams and multiple contributors.


  • Work with internal and external resources to develop diversity goals, oversee educational training program, serve as an advisor to the recruiting team to surface qualified diverse talent to achieve all company goals (Bearquarters and Bearhouse)
  • Focus on creating tools and framework that enable critical diversity initiatives
  • Responsible for carrying out and continuously evolving the diversity roadmap
  • Work with the established Build-A-Bear Diversity Council to create and execute progressive company programs and initiatives
  • Manage global mentoring program
  • Build innovative programs, action plans, and follow up with key partners to achieve annual diversity goals
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion topics as it relates to community activities, training, recruiting partnerships, employee conversations, and investigations
  • Identify critical metrics and create action plans to accomplish set goals and resolve discrepancies
  • Work alongside Training & Development Manager to implement necessary workshops
  • Effectively leverage data to propose solutions, track program key performance indicators and insights. Identify trends, ensure projects and programs align to company Diversity Equity & Inclusion priorities and key research


  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 5-7 years of experience in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion or related field
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint required
  • Experience partnering with senior leaders
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Flexible and adaptable to change
  • Valuable customer service skills
