Purpose:

The Staff Accountant performs a wide variety of duties for the organization including but not limited to: monitoring grant expenditure, producing monthly grant billing, reconciliation and reporting of grant information, and grant spend down for external and internal use. Release and reconciliation of restricted assets related to grant funded programs. Preparation of audit work papers and review and publication of internal management reports and external regulatory reports. Preparation of periodic forecast and assist in the annual program budget compilation. Review of operating results and analysis of performance trends.

Description:

  • Grants - daily monitoring and recording of grant and restricted expenditures in accordance to the grant regulations and donation restrictions. Production of monthly grant billing and restricted release.
  • Reporting - Monthly management reports, periodic regulatory and donor requested statements. Monthly forecasts, variance analysis and assistance with annual program and grant budgets. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to support program staff with the management of grant.
  • Cost allocations - assist Controller in the development and maintenance of cost allocations. Knowledge of federal, state, and local compliance rules required.
  • Internal Control - assist Controller in completing annual fiscal self-assessment, monitoring of partners and assist in the preparation of audit workpapers.

Formal Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting Degree or Associates Degree with 5 years of related experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience with Excel and large accounting software.
  • Ability to complete professionally verbally and written communications.
  • Experience working with diverse customers.
  • Previous experience in mid-size company supporting other departments.

Unusual Working Conditions, If Any:

  • Requires the ability to walk, bend and lift occasionally (up to 10-15 lbs.).
