The AmeriCorps Student Success Coach will work on a team to support K-3rd grade classrooms, lead the integration of social-emotional learning curricula and concepts, conduct academic and behavioral interventions for students, and lead after-school activities at The Biome School in St. Louis, MO. By the end of the first program year, the Student Success Coaching Team Members will be responsible for helping to increase positive behaviors, attendance, and achievement in math and literacy among The Biome's learners. Student Success Coaches will work at The Biome Monday through Friday during the school year (August 2017 - May 2018) with flexible hours between 8:00AM until 6:15 PM.



  •   Academic/School Culture Support
  • Assist The Biome's teachers in the delivery of highly engaging math, literacy, and SEL learning opportunities
  • Deliver The Biome's social-emotional learning curriculum (PATHS)
  • Participate in behavioral interventions
  • Conduct push-in/pull-out services for students needing additional support in math and/or literacy
  • Track student academic and/or behavioral progress alongside teachers
  • Plan and deliver educational/engagement events for parents
  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding school attendance and progress reports
  • Foster a culture of respect, responsibility and resilience among students, parents, and staff
  • Commit to continued professional development of self and colleagues
  • Other activities as deemed necessary and/or assigned by the Principal during the school day and by the Extended Day Program Manager during the after school program
  • After School Support
    • Lead students in enrichment activities
    • Deliver after-school PATHS curriculum
  • Supervise students to ensure their physical and emotional well-being



  • Teaching and/or student teaching experience and a record of success, demonstrated by student achievement, references, and other indicators
  • Must be a high school graduate (completion of at least 60 units of college credit is preferred)
  • Clear background check and drug screening



  •   Possesses a good sense of humor and charisma
  •   Possesses strong listening skills, and oral and written communication skills
  •   Is flexible, self-confident, resilient, creative, reliable, consistent, optimistic, and results-oriented
